Cube Green Energy’s initial focus will be on Europe’s established wind and solar sectors.
I Squared Capital, a global infrastructure investor, has developed a renewable energy platform in Europe that will develop, repower, build, and run wind and solar farms.
Cube Green Energy will initially focus on existing renewables markets in Continental Europe, with the platform also planning to invest in the implementation of related developing technologies like battery storage and green hydrogen.
Cube Green Energy is managed by former GE Energy Financial Services executives (GE EFS).
Raghuveer Kurada, the CEO of Cube Green Energy, has held numerous senior positions at GE EFS, including successfully completing and managing over $10 billion in value-accretive investments throughout the world.
He was most recently in charge of financing more than $6 billion in third-party stock and loans for GE projects.
Sharad Jain, Niko Meissner, and Hussain Shalchi are the other members of the management team.
“I Squared Capital has invested over $6.5 billion in transition energy companies globally since 2014, including $4 billion in 12 renewable energy companies, and we are continuing that strategy with a world-class management team that brings deep experience, industry knowledge, and on-the-ground presence to address an unmet market demand,” said Gautam Bhandari, managing partner at I Squared Capital.
“Using our platform building approach, we intend to initially contribute up to $500 million over the next few years to grow Cube Green Energy into a leading renewables firm that can assist Europe transition to a zero-carbon economy,” Kurada said.
