RWE signs a 200MW battery agreement with LG

RWE Renewables and LG Energy Solution have agreed to deliver an integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) for two projects in the United States with co-located solar PV installations

More than 800 megawatt-hours of battery storage capacity will be deployed on over 200MW of storage systems under the supply contract.

LG systems are expected to arrive in the second part of 2022

“We’re delighted to join forces with LG Energy Solution to secure equipment helping us realise two important solar plus storage projects as we continue to expand our renewable portfolio, driving down costs and making clean energy more affordable here in the US,” RWE Renewables onshore wind and PV chief executive Silvia Ortin said.

“LG Energy Solution is a seasoned partner dedicated to guaranteeing dependability, assisting us in keeping up with cutting-edge technology and enabling us to deliver customized solutions to our customers.”

“We are incredibly delighted to create the collaboration with the RWE team to supply batteries for their two flagship projects in the world’s fastest expanding energy storage market,” LG Energy Solution SVP of ESS Youngjoon Shin stated.

“These initiatives expand on our businesses’ relationship, which began with the installation of our batteries at two minor projects in Texas in 2017.”

“The LG team is looking forward to a long-term partnership with RWE in the United States and abroad to offer sustainable energy solutions that satisfy the needs of power companies and customers for dependable, clean, and cheap energy,” says the company.
