RWE has opted to invest in the Les Nouvions wind farm in the Hauts-de-France area of Northern France, which has a capacity of 44 megawatts.
Construction is planned to begin in the first quarter of 2022, with the project being completed in 2023.
Eleven Nordex N149/3960 TS 105 turbines will be installed in the wind farm.
“We are investing our many years of knowledge into the planning, building, and management of wind farms,” RWE Renewables France country chair Joseph Fonio stated.
“We’re depending on local relationships and including stakeholders on the ground as part of this process.”
“This will enable us to assist France in meeting its climate goals and to Stand by its side as a trustworthy partner in the energy transition.”
RWE bought a 1.9GW onshore wind and solar development pipeline in France in 2020.
The company’s first onshore wind farm, the 26.4MW Les Pierrots, was recently finished, and two further projects with a combined capacity of 33MW are anticipated to be completed in 2022.
“We are moving on with the growth of our renewables portfolio in France,” RWE chief operating officer onshore wind and solar Europe and Asia-Pacific Katja Wünschel said.
“The French market is very important to RWE, and we are always looking for ways to expand.”
“In addition to Les Nouvions, we are working hard to bring additional French onshore wind projects to fruition.”
“Our first onshore wind farm was just commissioned in France, and two other projects are now under development.”
