The 1.5 megawatt (MW) floating solar PV systems will assist Singapore meet its ambitious goal of installing 2 GW of solar energy by 2030. The Dual-use floating solar venture intends to increase Singapore’s solar energy output while also lowering carbon emissions by 1.5 kilotonnes per year and providing renewable energy to the country’s water system. The project is scheduled to open in 2021 and will use Fimer’s central inverters, which are designed exclusively for utility-scale applications and can survive even the harshest weather conditions, such as constant water exposure.
“Floating solar is gaining traction, with Asian countries in particular providing ideal circumstances for this exciting trend,” said Maren Schmidt, Managing Director of Fimer’s Utility Line of Business. “We are honored to be a part of this historic project, which illustrates Fimer’s ability to create solutions for installations of this magnitude, despite the inherent constraints.” Fimer’s wide variety of solar inverter systems provided the appropriate solution that was both compact and easy to install and properly matched the project’s needs. Commissioning this project during the Covid-19 epidemic had its unique set of problems, which the professional service team was able to solve.”
This project builds on Fimer’s previous work in Singapore, where it has installed residential, commercial, and industrial, Utility Scale, and storage-based solutions in a variety of projects.
