ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The US Chargé d’ Affaires Angela Aggeler has commended the government’s renewable energy policy
In a meeting with the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Petroleum and Power Tabish Gohar in Islamabad on Friday, the US Chargé d’ Affaires suggested that the United States and Pakistan must outline the priority areas to create enabling environment for cooperation on a government-to-government basis in petroleum and power sector.
In the meeting, both discussed the outlook and market of the energy sector in Pakistan.
The special assistant gave an overview of Pakistan’s energy sector and the earnest endeavours of the incumbent government to reform the energy sector of the Country.
Tabish Gohar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to cleaner fuels and green energy. He highlighted that the government would forge massive addition of renewable capacity i.e 30% by 2030 with a 45% share of hydel power generation.
The special assistant also underlined the importance of the gas storage facilities and said that the government is working on the construction of strategic gas storage and this project would enhance the Country’s capability to import gas and ensure sustainable economic growth.
