Van Oord jack-up Aeolus will soon return to work on foundation installation at the 496MW Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm off the coast of France.

Work was paused last month after the vessel (pictured) encountered a “technical problem” resulting in a leak of about 100 litres of biodegradable hydraulic fluid.

Van Oord has carried out technical and environmental optimizations of the ship’s tools and equipment following the incident.
The measurements were tested by Van Oord during sea tests carried out from 5-8 July in the port of Rotterdam.

“These tests have given complete satisfaction,” said project developer Ailes Marines.

Ailes Marines added that it is continuing close collaboration with state services, to which the company has submitted a file detailing the analysis carried out and the measures adopted since the incident in order to agree on the next date for the ship’s return to the area.
